Woman dies in shooting, ‘domestic dispute’ between husband and son: JPSO

HARVEY, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 6.
Around 10:15 a.m., JPSO deputies responded to a report of a woman being shot in the 2200 block of Deerlick Lane. When they arrived, deputies found an unresponsive woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Deputies said that the victim was lying in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to JPSO deputies, they found the victim’s husband, 66-year-old Zed Walker Jr., on the scene and took him into custody as part of the investigation.

JPSO investigators said the preliminary findings at the scene could indicate that a “domestic disturbance” took place at the home prior to the shooting involving Walker, his stepson and the victim.
JPSO officials said that during the incident, Walker allegedly had the gun. When the victim tried to intervene between her son and husband, a fatal gunshot was fired.
The JPSO is withholding the victim’s identity at this time.
Walker will be transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and will be booked with attempted murder and manslaughter.
This is an ongoing investigation.
