UPDATED: Suspect Arrested In Downtown Stabbing Investigation

Windsor Police have arrested a suspect wanted after a stabbing downtown.

Police say that on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, just before 3:00am, officers were called to the area of Ouellette Avenue and University Avenue regarding a party who had been stabbed.

They say that the victim and the suspect believed to be known to each other, engaged in a physical altercation. The suspect retreated from the altercation briefly before returning to the victim and stabbing him.

Directly afterward, the suspect fled the scene westbound on University Avenue West towards Pelissier Street, then north on Pelissier Street towards Chatham Street West.

The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

Through investigation, an officer of the Windsor Police Service was able to identify the suspect for the stabbing. Members of the Windsor Police Service Major Crime Unit located and arrested the suspect in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue at approximately 12:30pm on September 4th, 2022.

The suspect is a 34-year-old male from Windsor. He remains in police custody at this time and is expected to appear before the courts tomorrow to answer to a charge of attempted murder.
