ST. LOUIS – Happy Thanksgiving! It will be a cold, but thankfully quiet holiday.
The gusty winds of Wednesday have eased and overnight clouds are starting to clear. Sunny skies Thursday with highs in the low-40s. Staying quiet and cold overnight. We’ll wake up in the low to mid-20s on Black Friday and see highs near 40 F.

A storm Friday night and Saturday will bring snow and rain to the region. While this storm is still out over the Pacific, we expect wintry conditions for St. Louis and areas north. While farther south and southwest, borderline temperatures lead to questions of precip type.
Here is the current outlook: Friday evening plans will be good to go, but clouds will be increasing. Into Saturday morning is when our next storm arrives. Wet snow starts after midnight to the west of metro St. Louis and slides east towards sunrise. From 6 a.m. to about 10 a.m., the area will see mostly wet sloppy snow. After that, temperatures will warm up and transition the snow to rain.
For metro STL and the I-70 (MO) and I-64 (IL) corridors, we could see a slushy 2+ inches, mostly on grassy surfaces. Some slushy roads are also possible during this time. North towards Jerseyville, Carlinville, Louisiana, up to 4+ inches will be possible. Farther south, a dusting to 2 inches is broadly possible.

The storm is still off the coast of the Pacific Northwest, so these numbers may shift. By lunchtime Saturday, slushy conditions should melt but it will continue to be a cold, wet, not so fun day outside.
