Suspect in custody over alleged stabbing at Rutgers School of Business

PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A suspect is in custody for an alleged stabbing at Rutgers School of Business, according to university officials.

Around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Rutgers University announced a stabbing “Rutgers Business School (New Brunswick)” on its Facebook page.

“Avoid the area and/or take shelter,” the post said.

Less than an hour later, Rutgers University issued a news release stating the suspect was in custody.

“A suspect is in custody following a stabbing incident that occurred at the Rutgers Business School in Piscataway, New Jersey at approximately 2:30 this afternoon,” the news release said. “There is no danger to the community.”

Three individuals, including the suspect, are being treated for their injuries, according to Rutgers University.

The investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released as they become available.

According to news reports from CBS New York and other outlets, five people were reportedly injured as a result of the stabbings.
