Okanagan Humane Society steps in to help rescue kittens from Kelowna waste management conveyor belt – Kelowna News

A group of eight-week-old kittens were found at a waste management conveyor belt system near Reid’s Corner in Kelowna on Saturday and two have been rescued so far.

The Okanagan Humane Society was called in by workers on site in the afternoon, after grabbing the first two and reaching out to volunteers to get these animals to safety.

OHS shared in a Facebook post that they will assist with the recovery of the remaining three kittens and their momma as soon as the facility opens Tuesday morning.

“They are safe with food and water, and the machinery is off for the weekend,” OHS said.

“The presence of rodents can, unfortunately, attract feral, stray or abandoned cats to dangerous situations looking for food and warm places to survive.”

OHS thanked their volunteer Sue, and the waste management facility workers Garth and others, for persevering and helping rescue at least a dozen others at this location from this season alone.

The rescue will soon be sharing the rest of the rescue story.
