NBC Halts Olympics Coverage With Breaking News About Savannah Guthrie’s Mom
NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics was briefly put on hold this Tuesday to share an update on “TODAY” anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
It was reported on Feb. 1 that Nancy Guthrie went missing. She was last seen outside of her home in Arizona on Jan. 31. The NBC anchor’s 84-year-old mother was taken against her will, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
A ransom note was reportedly sent to the Guthrie family last week. The deadline to pay this ransom in bitcoin was set for this past Monday.
“We believe our mom is still out there,” Savannah Guthrie said. “We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken and we don’t know where. And we need your help.”

The FBI released several black-and-white photos as well as three videos of an unidentified person at Nancy Guthrie’s front door.
“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” FBI Director Kash Patel said. “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”
During a scheduled commercial break for the Olympics, NBC shared these images on national television.
