Body Found on Property Where South Carolina Woman Held Captive

The South Carolina woman rescued after being held captive for two months told authorities she saw her captor shoot her boyfriend, officials said in court Friday afternoon.

The statement came shortly after the Spartanburg County Coroner confirmed to NBC News that an unidentified body had been found on the same property where Kala Brown, 30, was found chained by the neck and ankle in a large metal storage container.

The owner of the property, Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with kidnapping, jail records show.

At a bond hearing for Kohlhepp Friday afternoon, 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette said Brown told authorities that on August 31st, she and her boyfriend, David “Charlie” Carver, went to Kohlhepp’s 95-acre property. It was there that she witnessed Kohlhepp shoot Carver, according to Barnette.

Authorities found numerous guns on Kohlhelpp’s property. Barnette said it was “unbelievable how much ammo [Kohlhepp] had in his building.”
