The South Carolina woman rescued after being held captive for two months told authorities she saw her captor shoot her boyfriend, officials said in court Friday afternoon.
The statement came shortly after the Spartanburg County Coroner confirmed to NBC News that an unidentified body had been found on the same property where Kala Brown, 30, was found chained by the neck and ankle in a large metal storage container.
The owner of the property, Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with kidnapping, jail records show.
At a bond hearing for Kohlhepp Friday afternoon, 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette said Brown told authorities that on August 31st, she and her boyfriend, David “Charlie” Carver, went to Kohlhepp’s 95-acre property. It was there that she witnessed Kohlhepp shoot Carver, according to Barnette.
Authorities found numerous guns on Kohlhelpp’s property. Barnette said it was “unbelievable how much ammo [Kohlhepp] had in his building.”

Barnette said he is confident there will be a murder warrant in connection with the case. Kohlhepp is expected back in court on January 19, 2017.
Kala Brown Missing Since August Found Alive Chained Boyfriend Charlie Carver Remains Missing
Members of both Brown and Carver’s families were in the courtroom during the hearing.
The Carver family released a statement Friday afternoon that reads, in part, “At this time we know no more than what has been reported within the media or statements made by law enforcement. We ask that you continue to pray for Kala’s healing and for David’s safe return as well. In the meantime, we ask for some time to ourselves as we process events as they unfold.”
A massive investigation continued on the property. The body discovered in a shallow grave Friday morning has not yet been identified.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told reporters at a press conference Friday afternoon it would be some time before that information is available.
When asked how Brown is doing, the sheriff responded that “she seems to be doing much better today.”
