6 injured in Texas State U. charter bus crash while en route to game

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Three charter buses taking Texas State University football players to New Mexico State University for a football game were involved in a multivehicle accident Saturday on Interstate 10 near Vinton, Texas, officials say.

According to the Texas State Office of Media Relations, six people passengers from Texas State, including a bus driver were sent to nearby hospitals. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening

A Texas State staff member said junior receiver Elijah King was one of those sent to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The buses were en route to Las Cruces, where Texas State was scheduled to play NMSU on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT. NMSU athletic director Mario Moccia said the game would be pushed back to 3:15 p.m.

Las Cruces Public Schools has supplied buses to the scene and essential football personnel were en route to NMSU’s Aggie Memorial Stadium.
