“Horrendous details”: Oklahoma couple charges upgraded after prosecutors review, DA Behenna says
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma District Attorney Vicki Behenna announced on Monday an Oklahoma couple charges have been upgraded after prosecutors reviewed what they alleged are “horrendous details” of the case.
According to the DA Behenna’s office, “Charges against the pair were upgraded to First Degree Murder after prosecutors reviewed the horrendous details of the case. The range of punishment on First Degree Murder is life or life without the possibility of parole.”
Darci Lambert, 24, and Jorden McGuire, 34, will now face first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty in connection with the dog mauling death of their 2-year-old daughter at their home in northeast Oklahoma City, said Behenna’s office.

“This is an unspeakably tragic case,” said Vicki Zemp Behenna, Oklahoma County
District Attorney. “Lambert and McGuire’s complete disregard for the health, safety, and welfare of their child, and their failure to protect her despite knowing she was at risk, led to her death.”
KFOR previously covered the incident that occurred on November 18, 2025 where police were called to a residence regarding a child not breathing. Upon arrival, officers located a child deceased with injuries consistent with an animal attack.
Lambert and McGuire are alleged to have failed to protect their child and permitted the child to remain in the presence of a dog(s) that was found by Animal Welfare to be malnourished. Additionally, detectives allege evidence shows the child had been attacked by the same dog previously and suffered serious injuries.
Darci Lambert, and Jorden McGuire are currently in custody on a $1 million bond.
